Country Deep-Dive:
Poland Market Overview
Poland with a GDP of €574 billion (2.62 trillion PLN) is the largest economy in Central-Eastern Europe and the 6th largest economy in the European Union. A population of around 38 million is also one of the largest on the continent. Its strategic location on the route between Western and Eastern Europe determines the country's role as a regional hub for transport and trade. Thanks to this, it is possible to reach over 115 million potential customers in Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia within 48 hours.

Products manufactured in Poland have gained recognition on global markets. Poland is the second largest exporter of large household appliances in the world and accounts for nearly 40% of production in the EU. The export of electronics, furniture and food is also a significant part of the Polish economy. This makes Poland a valuable trading partner for the European Union countries, in particular for Germany (27.8% of the Polish export in Q1 2022), the Czech Republic (6.4%) and France (5.8%). The dynamic development of warehouse space (2.8 million sqm in 2021) with low vacancy rates (3.05% in 2021) proves that Poland is one of the most desirable markets in Europe for investors.
Dynamic economic development (5.9% in 2021) means numerous investments and promotion of modern solutions. Since Poland's accession to the EU in 2005, the highway and expressway network has increased eightfold and is still growing. This enables fast transport - courier parcels are delivered within 1 business day throughout the country.

E-Commerce Trends in Poland
With a revenue of nearly €22 billion, the Polish e-commerce market is one of the fastest growing ones in Europe. Its growth is estimated to be 127% between 2017 and 2021. According to forecasts, the market will reach the value of around €55 billion in 2025 and will continue to develop dynamically.
The pandemic and the introduction of non-trading Sundays significantly influenced the behaviour and preferences of customers. Currently, nearly 80% of Polish people use the internet for shopping. Modern solutions (also in payments) make online shopping easy and pleasant for all age groups. Improvement of the delivery process is guaranteed by a Parcel Lockers system of the local leader of courier services (InPost). Its 18,000 terminals are used by more than 15 million users and allow customers to pick up their shipment at any time of the day.
The most important sectors of the Polish online market are "fashion" (45%), "electronics and media" (19%) as well as "toys and hobbies" (15%).
The dynamic development of the e-commerce market means a growing demand for warehouse space. Currently, over 30% (7.35 million sqm) of the occupied space in Poland is dedicated to e-commerce. New facilities are being built that take into account the specificity of the market (including location in the close vicinity of foreign markets).
