Spain Market Overview

Spain is the fourth-largest economy in Europe with a GDP of €1.80 trillion and a population of 47.6 million people. The e-commerce market is continuously growing and Spain is not staying behind. Between 2020 and 2021, e-commerce sales have increased by 21%. The country remains a vital partner for the United States, both bilaterally and within the European region.

Spain has a strong and secure transport structure, which makes it a very attractive place to invest. In addtion, it is located in a strategic area which allows it to reach more than 70 million potential customers within 24 to 48 hours.

The transport sector accounts for 7.9% of Spain's GDP, although this figure rises to 10% if logistics activities are included. The number of investments in 2021 was large for the commercial real estate segment (offices, logistics and retail), with estimated investments of around 5.9 billion euros in 2021 (+8%). An increase is expected in 2022, mainly because the Spanish market is increasingly demanding in terms of quality, efficiency and sustainability criteria for logistics assets.

From 2020 to 2021, e-commerce in Spain grew by more than 20%, significantly in the sectors of fashion and electronic devices. The fashion sector dominates the Spanish e-commerce market with 29%, followed by the tech sector with 23%.
