Metaverse - Infinite expanses for the retail?

The metaverse is on everyone's mouth, because it offers interesting possibilities and opportunities for the retail industry - not only in Germany, but internationally. In this issue of the ECC CLUB study, IFH Cologne ECC CLUB study looks at the topic from two perspectives - the German and the the German and the US perspective. From the latter, the following central questions were examined: What are the general attitudes toward the metaverse? What potential is there for the retail sector in particular? And what barriers stand in the way?

Particularly in high-price segments, the combination of physical purchase and digital twin (NFT) is already being piloted and is being pursued further.

A total of 2,022 young from both countries were surveyed to find out what they thought of the Metaverse and whether they metaverse and whether they are prepared to enter this " new territory. The survey also looked at the position retailers would like to see in the desired, which product groups consumers want to buy in the metaverse, and whether they consumers want to buy in the metaverse, whether they prefer to own them physically or and what a shopping experience should look like. The study thus provides not only exciting insights into the near future of digitalization, but above all into the digital future of retail! It shows how the main customer groups of the future - Generations Z and Y - - want to be fetched.
