Background Situation
Sennheiser was looking for a new partner to not only take over its global logistics and distribution but one that could also offer a globally standardized system landscape. All Arvato central lager warehouses work a on a standardized SAP client with standardized processes, enabling global inventory control and compliance with quality standards.
Arvato's Solution
In January 2014, Arvato began to gradually take over worldwide logistics for products manufactured by the Sennheiser group. Against this backdrop, Arvato and Sennheiser inaugurated a logistics hall built specifically for this purpose on Arvato’s premises in Guetersloh .
60 employees work in the 10,000-square meter warehouse and distribution hall on Arvato’s "An der Autobahn" premises. Construction began in May 2013, and was completed November 2013.
Arvato began by taking over logistics for Sennheiser in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa), which was followed a few month later by North and South America and Asia.
Business Impact
The establishment of three distribution centers in Europe, Asia and the USA with a global SAP platform, ensured streamlined processes and maximum control of global inventories, as well as optimized replenishment processes for Sennheiser. As international sales peaks are not unusual for Sennheiser, this calls for a high degree of flexibility and strict quality standards in order to manage fluctuating volumes. Furthermore, Arvato offers Sennheiser and its customers a tracking and tracing system, complaints processing, transport performance monitoring and cycles, as well as processing customs and shipping documents.
