Greener Together: Our Team Reforests Areas in Bielefeld

Topics: Sustainability Company

During local Bielefeld Climate Week, our colleagues took part in a large-scale tree-planting campaign at Hof Ruwisch in Bielefeld-Ummeln. On two designated sites, a total of 1,000 young trees were planted — a contribution to reforestation and the promotion of biodiversity in the region.

The activity took place as part of Arvato Social Day, during which Arvato employees regularly engage in social and environmental projects. “We are delighted to be part of an initiative that creates tangible, sustainable impact right on our doorstep,” says Meike Rohrhurst, Executive Vice President HR Germany at Arvato. “Protecting natural resources and acting responsibly toward our environment are core company values — so it’s only natural for us to contribute in this way.”

The newly planted areas will develop into a young, diverse mixed forest consisting of pedunculate oak, wild cherry, silver fir, and Douglas fir. The land was previously covered with spruce trees that were destroyed by bark beetle infestation. By replanting with a variety of species, the project aims to establish a more stable and climate-resilient forest ecosystem. “Every newly planted tree is a step toward a healthier environment,” adds Meike Rohrhurst. “With our participation, we also want to send a clear message about collective action and sustainable responsibility.”

Jens Ohlemeyer, Chairman of the KlimaWoche Bielefeld Association, praised the commitment:“With this impressive reforestation project, Arvato is making an important contribution to protecting our local forests. Those who plant trees are investing in a livable future.”
