We expand our site in Gennep
We expand our logistics campus in Gennep in the province of Limburg, Netherlands.
In order to meet the growing needs of existing customers, capacities for new business are to be created. The expansion includes the construction of four additional hall modules with a total logistics area of 60,000 square meters. The expansion will increase the total storage area of the Gennep campus to 228,000 square meters.
Since Arvato attaches great importance to sustainability, the service provider has defined its own 'Global Sustainable Building Policy' with requirements for its distribution centers. In Gennep, the new modules will be built with circularly usable steel and equipped with gas-free heating systems, battery storage, solar panels and individually controllable lighting of the indoor and outdoor areas according to the international DALI standard (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface). In addition, there are bicycle parking spaces with a green roof. Likewise, the halls are to be evaluated according to compliance with the GPR (Gemeentelijke Praktijk Richtlijn/Municipal Practice Guideline), a method for assessing the sustainability of a building. "This expansion reflects our commitment to a diverse campus where partnerships emerge and is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation," explains Hugo Rijnen, Director Logistics Engineering at Arvato. The continuous innovation efforts are also confirmed by another highly automated AutoStore system, which will be installed in the course of the expansion to handle efficient logistics processes. Arvato will then operate a total of three AutoStore systems in Gennep in the future.
A special feature of the expansion is that both the construction of the new modules and the implementation of the new customers took place in parallel. The current expansion also fits well into the growing image of the Gennep site, which – with a view to the future – has a very good infrastructure, including its own roundabout, green spaces and a central gatehouse.
Arvato's steadily increasing growth to date has also led to an increase in the need for employees. "With the successful expansion and implementation of new customers, numerous new tasks and positions have arisen. We have already been able to welcome many enthusiastic new employees for these vacancies. Nevertheless, we are still actively looking for talents to join our team," says Ralph Smeets, Director HR at Arvato.
The logistics service provider is confident about further growth and is ready to face future challenges together with its employees and to further improve its services.
